Stage 5 Extreme Drought

On June 30th the Cow Creek Groundwater Conservation District's Board declared our district in Stage 5 - Extreme Drought conditions.

 Stage 5 Requirements include:

  • A mandatory 40% reduction in permitted user’s production.

  • Irrigation of lawns and landscaped areas is limited to one day a week (as outlined in the watering schedule available at www.ccgcd.org) and shall be by means of hand-held hoses or hand-held buckets only. No hose-end sprinklers or automatic sprinklers are allowed at any time.

  • The watering of golf courses, parks, public properties, and athletic fields is prohibited unless the golf course, park, public property, or athletic field utilizes treated wastewater effluent or a source other than groundwater as its source of irrigation.

  • Bulk sales of groundwater from within the District are prohibited.

  • Use of water from hydrants shall be limited to fire fighting, related activities, or other activities necessary to maintain public health, safety, and welfare.

  • Irrigation of hay crops is prohibited.

  • Irrigation of crops designated for human consumption is limited to once a week between the hours of 8:00 pm and 10:00 am of the following day.

  • Leak-proof troughs shall be used to provide water for livestock.

  • Use of groundwater for construction activities is prohibited.
