Boerne ISD Accomplishments
State Awards
- The State of Texas rates all Boerne Schools as RECOGNIZED or EXEMPLARY.
- The district has been rate "RECOGNIZED" every year since 1999.
- In 2005/06 the district improved test scores in every area and for every sub-population of students despite lower score averages throughout the rest of Texas. As a result, BISD has five recognized schools and one exemplary school this fall.
Fine Arts Program
- Fall 2005 saw the establishment of the BISD Orchestra Program.
- Expansion of the Fine Arts Program during the past 2 years includes an invitation for the Middle School Choir to sing at the White House and a visit to a new sister school in China.
- The Band Program is a perennial Sweepstakes winner
- A large number of students have been named to the state band
- 23 choir members have been named to the state choir.
Athletics
- Four state championships in the past three years.
- The Athletic program was crowned best in the San Antonio area in 2005 and 2006
- Finished in the top 10 among all 4A districts in Texas (Governor's Cup Standings) for the past 4 years.
Gifted & Talented
- Destination Imagination Team finishes 1st in World Competition in 1999 and 6th in 2004.
- Multiple Boerne ISD teams qualify for state competition in the Destination Imagination Competition each year.
- The High School Academic Decathlon team won the Regional Competition in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
College Opportunity
A unique relationship with the University of Texas at San Antonio allows Boerne High School students to attend college classes on that campus during school day. Over 100 students enrolled up to the Fall 2006 semester.
Recent Graduates
- USA Today Newspaper (Feb 2004) rates recent graduate as one of top 25 college students in the nation
- Another recent graduate recognized for completing 63 hours of college credit while attending Boerne High School.
Teaching Excellence
Among several prestigious awards, two BISD teachers have won the prestigious Trinity Prize within the last 4 years, awarded to the most outstanding San Antonio Teachers.
SAT Scores
- The Class of 2005 had an average combined SAT score of 1064, highest in its history despite testing over 90% of the student body of the SAT/ ACT.
- This average is 36 points above the national average and 69 points above the Texas average.
