Texas Tech University
In April 2009 Texas Tech University in alliance with Boerne Independent School District, Alamo Colleges and the Kendall County Economic Development Corporation announced they would be creating new opportunities for higher education in Kendall County. A high honors high school will be created allowing students to earn 30 hours of Texas Tech credit. Adults and high school students can also participate in distance learning courses that will enable them to earn bachelors and graduate degrees in a variety of disciplines, including nursing.
Angelo State University
In October 2009 Angelo State University announced they would be offering higher education courses for the Kendall County Area, centered in Boerne, TX. Educational programs that ASU plans to offer in Boerne include Master of Education for educational diagnostician, guidance and counseling with a school counseling certificate, licensed professional counselor, reading specialist, school administration, and student development and leadership.
Also planned are a master's degree in curriculum and instruction with middle and secondary certification preparation; Master of Science in health education; Master of Education with emphasis in special education; Master of Education with preparation for early childhood to sixth-grade certification; and Master of Education in environmental education.
Students can also earn certifications for superintendent, principal, school counselor, educational diagnostician, master reading teacher and reading specialist.
In the fall 2010 semester, ASU's College of Education will offer in Boerne generalist Bachelor of Science degrees with certification for early childhood to sixth grade, early childhood to sixth grade all-level special education, and grades four through eight. In addition, bachelor's degrees will be offered with certification in English language arts, mathematics, science and social studies, all for grades four through eight.

University of Texas at San Antonio
Only 18 miles away from Boerne, the University of Texas at San Antonio serves the San Antonio metropolitan area and the broader region of South Texas through programs and services offered from its three campuses: 1604 Campus, Downtown Campus and UTSA's Institute of Texan Cultures.
With 27,291 students enrolled in 123 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, UTSA is the second-largest component in The University of Texas System and has been one of the state's fastest-growing public universities for much of the last decade.
University of Texas San Antonio's Offerings
UTSA offers 62 bachelor's, 43 master's and 18 doctoral degree programs, and with seven new doctoral programs in the planning stages is rapidly moving toward classification as a doctoral/ research intensive institution.
The university's three campuses provide access and opportunity for large numbers of historically underserved students. More than 57 percent of UTSA's students come from groups underrepresented in higher education.

Alamo Community College District
The Alamo Community College District is a public, two-year, multi-college district serving San Antonio. The ACCD is made up of five comprehensive community colleges:
San Antonio College
SAC has an estimated enrollment of 21,782 students and offers occupational, technical, and sciences and applied science.
St. Phillip's College
St. Phillip's College has an annual enrollment of more than 9,639 and offers associate degrees in liberal arts and sciences and applied science.
Palo Alto College
Palo Alto College has more than 7,162 students in the arts and sciences and technical programs.
Northest Lakeview College
Northeast Lakeview College was officially established in January 2007 as the fifth institution of the Alamo Community Colleges. It currently has an enrollment of over 3,400 students.
Northwest Vista College
Northwest Vista College, has more than 9,000 students enrolled in Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology, Community Health, Pharmacy Technology, Computer Programming, Network Administration, and Multimedia Technology.
Texas State University - San Marcos
Texas State University-San Marcos opened in 1903 as a two-year teacher training institution and has grown into a challenging university with 114 undergraduate, 81 master's degree and six doctoral programs.
This public university specializes in management and technology-based areas of study and is recognized for its up-and-coming school of business.
